Enhancing Wellness Spiritually- Why Spirituality can be important to the healing process
There are alot of different ideas out there on healing. Counseling is an important process to healing and can help you to work on other avenues surrounding healing. Counseling can help you in determining what values and needs you are neglecting in your life that are impacting your ability to heal and live a more balanced life. This article will talk about the importance of maintaining and nurturing balance in life including incorporating spirituality in a way that aligns with your values.
Anxiety and Depression issues:
When we are out of balance in life that can contribute to the development of anxiety and depression issues. We can find ourselves stuck in patterns of anxiety towards our future or reliving memories and past mistakes in our past. When our focus is on these things we are not focused on the present moment and how we are living our lives in the way that we would like. With issues surrounding anxiety and depression we tend to give ourselves more control over our situations and circumstances then how much we actually have. Counseling and therapy techniques can help us to see the amount of control we actually have over our lives and how much we don't. We carry a large burden when we think that we have more control over our lives than we actually do. When we are able to let go, we can then begin to heal from our anxiety and depression issues.
Letting Go
When we are able to recognize the amount of control that we have over our lives we may be thinking that our stress and anxiety surrounding that is hard to still manage. That is when we can put our focus into something that is bigger than ourselves. We realize that we are a part of a bigger purpose and community. For some that might look like attending a religious church, for others it might not be identifying with religion or church specifically. Meditation and being in touch with the universe in a way that makes sense for you helps you to better understand the purpose for your life. Being a part of something that is bigger than ourselves lifts the weight off of our shoulders that everything is on us. However you decide to engage in your spirituality, it is beneficial to also find community in some way with it. Finding a community of people that you can relate to in your spiritual journey helps you to feel less isolated. If you have also experienced trauma in relation to religion, finding a community of people to help through that can be powerful.
